For many years now, increasing number of moving companies misrepresent themselves which is why the FMWA was established in 1979. It is the job of the FMWA to ensure moving companies are above board and follow the regulations in place.
What Does FMWA Stand For?
FMWA stands for Florida’s Moving and Warehousemen’s Association. This nonprofit trade association monitors the services of warehouses and moving companies throughout the entire state of Florida. In the early 70’s, individuals became concerned that the state legislature and other regulatory bodies were adopting inconsistent and unnecessary standards in order to govern the industry. Now that members of FMWA follow a comprehensive code of ethics and are committed to the highest standards, the moving and warehousing industry is protected to a certain extent.
Move with a Company You Trust
It’s so highly important to move with a company that you can trust. First off, check their website to establish if they are regulated by any governing bodies. Secondly, check out reviews and customer testimonials to get a feel for what other clients think of their services.

“Dear National Van Lines, We would like to commend your movers, Joe and Mike for a job well done moving furniture from Joe Bonnie Movers and Storage in Delray Beach to Washington DC. From our first telephone contact with Joe until the job was completed, they were courteous, competent and careful with our valuable pieces.”
“Thank you. Joe, appreciate very much the quick response, quick turnaround for the two (2) couches moved. You said the truck would be there at 1:00 PM, the truck was there at 1:00 PM. We can't compliment you enough on the crew. DJ, Bobby, and Stephen were prompt, courteous, didn't waste any time, wrapped the couches, lowered the couches, moved the couches, and unloaded the couches all with an extremely high degree of professional capability. Joe, when it comes time for an employee review, please feel free to call me, we have only the highest accolades for DJ, Bobby, and Stephen. In like manner, should Joe Bonnie & Son ever request a reference to a prospect, please, don't ever hesitate to call us. Thanks again.”
